Someone said that climate change can be best summed up as unusual weather and unprecedented weather extremes all occurring with ever increasing frequency. Welcome to our future.
I’ve read that the water level in the River Thames around Caversham lock – above and below – has never been higher (7th Jan 2024). And it’s not finished rising yet. Of course, other local rivers are similarly high.
I have nothing to say about climate change that others haven’t already said. I’ve nothing to say about those who say that the planet’s climate is changing and it’s little or nothing to do with human activity. I’ve nothing to say about those who think there’s nothing we can do anyway. What I will say is that free speech is worth defending.
I do think the reasons why people believe/think as they do in the light of a planet’s changing climate needs to be the key focus – and it needs to be the focus now. Right now. Otherwise little or nothing will change. But that’s a different topic.
In the meantime, the three photos below are an attempt to capture the river as it now is, in a slightly different way than I normally do.
